Framework Pilates provides personalized one-on-one sessions provide you with in-depth movement training and understanding on how to get the most from your Pilates practice. WHY PILATES?
There are a myriad of benefits to be gained from choosing Pilates, such as building increased strength and mobility through neuromuscular re-patterning, improving ranges of motion, reducing pain, preventing injury, or rehabilitation. How is it possible that one system can provide so many benefits across multiple populations? The classical Pilates equipment uses springs, leverage, and body weight to perform various exercises targeting specific muscle groups. These targeted exercises increase bone density and muscular strength without the risks that come with many other types of weight-bearing or high-impact classes. Pilates is also different from traditional weight training because the emphasis is on both the full contraction AND elongation of the muscle fibers, which improves their elasticity. This in turn greatly builds flexibility and mobility in the body making injuries a thing in the past. The spring-based apparatus and overall Pilates repertoire is highly adjustable for the different needs of every single person who uses the method to improve their movement.
Along with the undeniable physical benefits, there is a special mind-body component to Pilates that makes the technique even more effective. Studies show when you are mindful during exercise, your consistency will improve and you can exert yourself more, which can lead to greater strength gains and weight loss. Throughout school and college I was on swim team and played water polo. After graduating I struggled for years to find a workout that fit my needs. I began to realize I had never really been properly taught body mechanics and how to prevent injury while doing resistance training, which resulted in knee pain and never reaching the goals I had for myself. I'm so glad I decided to give Pilates a try! Since I had never ever done Pilates, I started with private sessions with Alissa. Everyday I'm learning something new about my body; how it works, its compensations, and how to reach my fitness goals! I was so intimidated starting out, but now I look forward to each session. I highly recommend that anyone at any fitness level give it a try and start their own fitness journey!!
