About Alissa
Alissa Graunke, Founder of FRAMEWORK pilates
Specialties: Hypermobility // Scoliosis // Athletic Conditioning // Rehabilitation // Deep Core Activation
Alissa started her lifelong love of movement by dancing around the house as a toddler - her mom decided she could use some help and enrolled her in ballet class at age 2 1/2. She danced ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern through college, and turned to Pilates to rehab after an ankle and knee injury in 2004. She completed her 500-hour comprehensive Pilates teacher certification through Body Arts and Sciences International under the direction of Rael Isacowitz in 2010. She has since deepened and expanded her knowledge with renowned second-generation Pilates expert and biomechanist Shari Berkowitz.
Alissa believes that anyone can benefit from the mind-body conditioning principles of Pilates. She loves that the Pilates method can help just about anyone feel more strong, stable, and mobile in their movement. Her training provided her with an extensive background in traditional and clinical Pilates, as well as detailed training in individualized program design for a diverse range of fitness and special conditions clientele. Throughout her career, Alissa has had the opportunity to work with a variety of students ranging from teenage and adult athletes, pre- and post-natal mothers, chiropractors, personal trainers, those with auto-immune conditions such as MS/fibromyalgia/rheumatoid arthritis, amateur and professional yogis, massage therapists, spinal/hip/knee surgery patients, and the elderly population. Alissa also loves experimenting with other movement modalities such as rebounding, weightlifting, and dance, and believes that variety builds the most functional bodies.
“Everyone is the architect of their own happiness.”
I cannot sing Alissa's praises enough! I am 5 months postpartum after a very difficult birth, and working out with Alissa has been the only activity I know I can do safely that benefits my whole body. Her attention to detail is so important and allows your body to actually engage properly in each exercise. That's something you just can't get in a group class. She has been so kind and invested in my health goals I don't know what I would do without her. If you are looking for a Pilates teacher that will genuinely invest time and expertise into your health/exercise goals look no further. I know that coming here and working out is what has allowed me re-engage my pelvic floor and bring my body back to a pre-baby feel!
