welcome to FRAMEWORK
Education
We take pride in our extensive movement education, and offer only the most individualized attention possible. There is absolutely no substitute for personalized training, as there is no one-size-fits-all exercise program. Each person's mental and physical needs are unique, and only your focused attention coupled with biomechanically advantageous movement can guarantee muscle re-patterning, which is what leads to lasting change in the body due to increased mobility and strength. Framework Pilates uses all the classical pieces of Pilates apparatus with a signature blended training approach, combining both Classical and Contemporary Pilates repertoire with functional strength training to give all clients a well-rounded program.
TRAINING Sessions
You are encouraged to take your health seriously by strength training at least twice per week, although these workouts are safe enough to be done every single day. (The daily schedule of working out on the apparatus was also recommended by Joseph Pilates himself, naturally!) Only your commitment can show results. Framework Pilates tends to attract those discerning clients who are interested in building a dynamic and responsive body through consistent long-term actions and lifestyle habits. All sessions begin with a combination of Pilates exercises and mobility drills to address your specific physical needs. This warm-up eases the body and mind into the workout. Every workout is a full body workout (unless you are experiencing an injury that needs to be modified around) customized by utilizing different combinations of the apparatus and mat work to challenge you. Each session ends with a restorative cool-down. Training is different than just exercising - training is where change happens!
STUDIO ATMOSPHERE
Pilates requires mindfulness and concentration. The Framework Pilates home-based private studio provides a comfortable, distraction-free environment that allows you to achieve the greatest possible benefit from your sessions. This is also a no-judgement zone where you don’t need to try to impress us, or feel intimidated by the apparatus. All people are welcome. We use vegan and eco-friendly/non-toxic products.
FIRST APPOINTMENT TIPS
Your first appointment is for your teacher to get to know you and your movement patterns. As such, there will be a lot of dialogue between you and the instructor about how you are moving, what sensations you may be feeling as you move, awareness around your shoulder, spine, and pelvic positions, etc. Please be patient - it will be worth it to deepen your mind-body connection!
ATTIRE
Wear unrestrictive clothing that you feel comfortable moving in and allows us to see the positions of your body. Many exercises are lying down or inverted, so be sure to wear the appropriate layers. Feel free to bring your own water. We practice Pilates in either bare feet or socks. Socks are optional, but grippy style is recommended if you do want to wear socks.
PARKING
Free, unmetered neighborhood parking around the studio.
“Pilates is complete coordination between body, mind, and spirit.”
I've taken private Pilates classes with Alissa for the past year. Prior to my sessions I had taken group Pilates classes but was getting bored and no longer seeing or feeling results. Within the first couple of sessions with Alissa I discovered areas I exercised with incorrect form and was preventing me from seeing results. I had been doing the same movements for years, and probably wouldn't have discovered errors had it not been for Alissa's instruction. I was in decent shape before private Pilates, but since working with Alissa I've noticed improvements in my posture and the tone in my arms and abs. My hips are also very tight from spinning classes and Alissa has worked with me open my hips and balance my body so I'm not favoring one side over the other in daily routines. I always feel great after my sessions, like I had an entire body workout, but not overstrained. Her sessions are tailored to each of her clients and each one is different so it's perfect for those with specific fitness goals, those who do not get all the attention they want or need in a group class format, or those who get bored doing the same exercise routines.
